Outgoing II
2003
Etching, Aquatint, Drypoint
23 3/4 × 36 in
Editions of 5 + 2AP
This outgoing predatory Skua image is in the series of etchings created with several layers of nitric acid hand-painted onto lacquer-aquatinted zinc. Although abstracted and simplified, the image shows the Skua as an existing predator with a silhouette that resemble the actual Antarctic bird species that is known to aggressively prey upon, hunt and stalk the eggs and the vulnerable chicks of penguins.
